Quotes to Live By

So I really love quotes... I came across a few today that I really enjoyed, I figured I would share them... I really need to work on all of my blog slacking.

“Out of intense complexities intense simplicities emerge.” - Winston Churchill

“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”  -Winston Churchil

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” - Carl Jung

Lovely Quotes

I love quotes... so here are a few that I came across that I absolutely adore...Thanks to Real Simple Mag again..

We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.
Frederick Keonig

It’s no trick loving somebody at their best. Love is loving them at their worst.
Tom Stoppard

What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.
Dr. Martin Luther King

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
Mahatma Gandhi

We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.

Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly.

Quick Update and some Uplift

Well let me start by saying I'm feeling pretty stressed...only 19 more days until I'm back home, but I feel like this is going to be the longest 19 days ever. Anyways..I am working on a scholarship application (among other stuff) for the Georgia Optometric Association and I was looking for a quote to start off my essay. I found some pretty good quotes. All of them didn't apply to what I was writing, but these are the ones that stood out to me.

I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do. – Edward Everett Hale

Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light. ~Norman B. Rice

Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.-Margret Mead

This is the true joy in life - being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. ~George Bernard ShawThousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. ~Buddha

A Reason, A Season, A Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do. -Drew Chalker

My Coffee Maker and Me

So my coffee maker has been the single best purchase that I have made this ENTIRE semester. Now that it is finals time...(4 down, 2 to more go)...it has been working several times a day. So this post is dedicated to my A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, black, chic Chefmate (that I got on sale from Target) coffeemaker, that has never let me down, always picks me up in the morning before classes or for some late night studying....

So clearly all this studying has made me lose my mind, but seriously my coffeemaker is great. I just brewed some coffee....Ok back to Neuro Studying..but before I go here are some coffee quotes..

"Suave molecules of Mocha stir up your blood, without causing excess heat; the organ of thought receives from it a feeling of sympathy; work becomes easier and you will sit down without distress to your principal repast which will restore your body and afford you a calm, delicious night.  ~Prince Tallyrand"
This coffee falls into your stomach, and straightway there is a general commotion.  Ideas begin to move like the battalions of the Grand Army of the battlefield, and the battle takes place.  Things remembered arrive at full gallop, ensuing to the wind.  The light cavalry of comparisons deliver a magnificent deploying charge, the artillery of logic hurry up with their train and ammunition, the shafts of with start up like sharpshooters.  Similes arise, the paper is covered with ink; for the struggle commences and is concluded with torrents of black water, just as a battle with powder.  ~Honore de Balzac, "The Pleasures and Pains of Coffee"

Enthusiasm

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

So I'm back in STL...and I am trying not to wallow in my misery too much...The sun is not shining at all, and i was definitely a stark difference as soon as my plane was come down below the clouds. However now that I am back I am trying to motivate myself to get resume the crazy study grind until Winter Break. I know it is going to be hard, but I am going to live by the above quote. There is no need to be down and out about school...yeah it sucks, but hopefully it will get better. So I will have lots of Enthusiasm these next 3 weeks!!! *mark my word.... (ok at least I will try)!

Oh and I added a "Daily Quotes Widget"...hopefully that will keep me motivated and will be something interesting to read. This is a random sidenote, but who is Ralph Waldo Emerson anyways...he seems to have a lot of quotes...maybe I'll look him up..in Wikipedia of course. Ok I am going to get back to studying for my exam on Wednesday...Until Next Time...

Overcoming Worry and Anxiety

Don't waste your life in doubts and fears: spend yourself on the work before you, well assured that the right performance of this hour's duties will be the best preparation for the hours or ages that follow it.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Encourage Yourself

This month has been an interesting one...I have had many ups and downs, but currently I'm just in the daily grind of going to school and studying...which I'm a little tired of. Well this morning, I was feeling a little down and I stumbled upon this website, which provided me so much motivation, so I had to share....

Excellent Motivational Website

You can click on all four sides/categories of the webpage when you get there for different prayers. Below I posted what the website has as the four categories:

ADORATIONS
Prayers of devotion, surrender, love, praise and offering.
CELEBRATIONS
Prayers of thanksgiving, initiation, affirmation and blessing.
INVOCATIONS
Prayers of petition, supplication, calling forth and healing.
MEDITATIONS
Prayers of reflection, contemplation, being and teaching.

Below are two randomly selected prayers that came up. If you have a free moment I suggest you check it out.

Step into the Sunlight
Feel the pain wash away
Enter in the Soul-light
Just BE in today.
Forget all emotion
Put your trust in the day
Let the past rush on by you
Put your Self in THE WAY.

one & infinite - lynne milum - universal light

Believe more deeply.
Hold your face up to the light,
even though for the moment you do not see.

bill wilson - cofounder alcoholics anonymous

The sun shines down,
and its image reflects a thousand
different pots filled with water.

The reflections are many,
but they are each reflecting the same sun.

Similarly, when we come to know who we truly are,
we will see ourselves in all people.
amma

One last thing before I get back to studying, well I named my blog Reason to Believe for many reasons, but I fail to reference the name in blog entries, but I guess I will now. I think a lot of things happen good and bad and will continue to happen, but through it all, I have a "Reason to Believe" that everything will work out and end well. For example, it's hard to be really excited about everything going on right now, but I know that it will all work out and I just need to stick in there. I hope in everything, people continue to pursue and believe in what they know is right and what they want. You can call me sappy or overly optimistic, but it has gotten me this far. Dropping some Knowledge...

I really like quotes (I always have), so here are some quotes that are at the bottom of my planner, I figured I will share them before I added some of them to my Quotable Quotes...

"A mind troubled by doubt cannot focus on the course to victory." -Arthur Golden

"Good people are good because they've come to wisdom through failure"- William Saroyan

"It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded than the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err." -Mahatma Gandhi

"It is very difficult ot live among people you love and hold back from offering them advice." - Anne Tyler

"All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them." - Galileo Galilei

Oh yeah and one random thing, I recently scrolled down my blog and I realized that it seems like I have an abnormally long "Blogroll." I actually read all of those blogs and enjoy them. All you bloggers keep up the good work. If you are bored and you need something to do, check some of them out. Most of them, if not all, are way more structured than mine. :)

On another random note, make sure to check out "Milani Nessa (my meez)" [bottom right column.] I try to change her outfit/gestures from time to time. Random, but fun!

Sigh...I feel like I can finally take a deep breath and sit down. This week is finally over and I feel like I have been in school for a whole semester during finals time. Even though I am relaxing, I can't help but think about how much studying I have to do. It is sooo easy to get behind, and I'm trying not to. Today we visited the AOA (American Optometric Association), conveniently their headquarters are in Saint Louis so that is pretty cool. There were just a whole bunch of presentations...Some of them made me want to be an optometrist all over again. lol. The best part is they gave us nice parting gifts, and they gave us lots of random things, but I finally got another flash drive. I was happy for that because I needed another one. I have one reserved for pictures, the other one is all my important documents/files and now this one can be for my optometry lectures/class stuff. So I was pleased about that.

I just baked brownies...and they are yummy...especially with the milk I was just drank it with. I was going to add ice cream on top, but I figured that would be too much; I don't want all my hardwork in the gym to be in vain. So this is weird because I honestly just came on here to write these quotes and somehow this turned into a full out post. Oops...lol. I guess I just needed to get some things off my chest. Gosh I love blogging...Until Next Time...
